WHAT DOES THIS STATEMENT MEANS FROM THE BIBLE?
John recorded this profound statement concerning our Lord Jesus Christ which the law could not do. The first chapter of John begins to tell us who actually Christ is. He describes Him as the Word, the son of God and the true light of the world that gives light to any man who comes into the world. Finally, he described him as one full of grace and truth. The only personality of the Godhead with this kind of divine intervention in the lives of all men.
HE IS FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH...
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 1:14-17 (KJV)
What the Law could not do unto perfection, Christ came to do it. He did so through the grace and truth revealed to us. What is this grace at all that Jesus brought to us?
This grace is a free gift unto all men, unlike the Law only made for the Israelites. The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ came with a lot of divine implications and I could only summarise them in five special ways:
- His Love towards us for the salvation of all men
- Reconciliation between God and us
- We have Peace with God through Jesus Christ
- Gave Himself as an atonement for our sins
- He did not leave us alone but gave us the Holy Spirit
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
