1 John 3:9-10; "No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother." Other versions will say that "for God's seed abides in him."
The reason why many of us cannot stop sinning is because God's seed does not abide in us. The nature of God does not dwell within us and therefore, we easily sin against our Lord God. Without the seed of God in you, it is impossible to become a child of God. The children of the evil one have seeds of the devil and that is why they easily sin. The kind of seed will show what kind of fruit the tree will bear.
The seed of God is the Fear of the Lord. Without the Fear of the Lord, it is impossible to do what is right. When the Fear of the Lord is within you, you cannot sin for the nature of God abides in you. Many people do not have that seed and they will find it difficult to do things that will please the Father. A good seed cannot grow into a good tree that will bear bad fruits and vice versa. The question is how can one have the seed of God?
You can have the Fear of the Lord within you when only you really know the God you are serving. We call ourselves Christians but we do not know the ways of God. What we only know is attending church services and performing our duties. Do you really know what He likes and dislikes? Do you know how He behaves and does his things? What does He do when someone wrongs him and how he reacts to it? Knowing all these will cause the Fear of the Lord to be lifted highly in you. A son will only fear his father when he knows how the father behaves when he does a wrong thing. This will always cause the son to do the right thing at all times. The same also applies to Christians and lack of wisdom and knowledge of our services to our Father in Heaven will cause a lot of problems while we know the right path to our salvation. The devil has blindfolded the eyes of many followers of Christ who have known the right path but cannot travel the route all because they do not know the Christ they have believed to serve. If you have a question to answer in an examination hall and you do not understand it, will you be able to provide an answer to the question? That is what is happening among believers and they do not pray for insight and wisdom about God that they may know and understand who He really is? No one can understand the works of the Father but knowing how He is will enable you to walk diligently with him.
Joseph, the son of Jacob (Israel) knew the Lord he served and that gave him the ability to reject the proposal of Potiphar's wife. The Fear of the Lord was so highly built in him and that was why he ran away for his life not to commit such an abomination against his God. If that kind of seed was not in him, would he be able to withstand that temptation? The answer is definitely NO. This implies that without the Fear of the Lord, it is impossible to please him. For if he had not known the God of Jacob, his ways and how he is, he would have lied to the woman.
